  Robert sang professionally with Queensland Opera for three years before joining D’Oyly Carte Opera in 1980. He has since sung with Wexford Opera and Brunel Opera and has been principal tenor with Dorset Chamber Opera since 1991. He has a repertoire of more than 30 operatic roles, including Alfredo (La Traviata), Pinkerton (Madam Butterfly), Lenski (Eugene Onegin), Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus) and most G & S tenor leads. Robert jointly runs Dorset Chamber Opera with his wife, Ruth Hastings. For this company, he has produced Don Pasquale (l998), The Marriage of Figaro (l999), The Elixir of Love (2000) and a specially commissioned opera, The Devil's Trill in 2000.

Robert toured extensively in the past with D'Oyly Carte and last year played Fitzbattleaxe in our production of Utopia Limited.
