Ruth Hastings

Gianetta
(Soprano)

Ruth trained and worked as a speech therapist before concentrating on her musical activities. Her operatic roles have included Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Fiordiligi and Despina (Cosi fan Tutte), Violetta (La Traviata), Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Adina (The Elixir of Love) and numerous G & S heroines.

Ruth founded Dorset Chamber Opera in 1990, and has sung many principal roles with that company. She performs widely in concerts and oratorio.

With her husband, Robert Eshelby, she is now busy with the various activities of Barn Arts and Barn Opera (see www.barnarts.com). This includes food supplements, skin care and French holiday cottages, as well as musical events!

Last year Ruth sang Zara in our production of Utopia Limited.
